Cleaning your catalytic combustor is easy with the right tools! You will need a ½ inch wrench and a vacuum cleaner or paint brush. Gloves and eye protection are also recommended.

The Fireview combustor is easy to find under the top lid. Always be sure the stove is cool before starting!

You may have already removed the 2 shipping bolts holding the combustor in place. If not, remove them with the ½ inch wrench.

After about 6 weeks of burning, or after each cord of wood, your combustor may have some fly-ash accumulation.

Use a household vacuum or a shop vac to gently clean both the top and bottom of the combustor.

If you don’t have a vacuum, you can use a soft, clean paintbrush to remove ash. Hold the combustor up to the light to be sure the cells are clean after brushing.

Next, vacuum or brush the area below where the combustor sits. Clean off the cast iron plate and the metal screen.

The combustor box will only fit back into the top of the stove one way. You do not need to re-install the shipping bolts.

Cleaning your combustor every 6 weeks, or after every cord of wood, will keep your stove running at peak efficiency and extend the life of your catalytic combustor.
