A welcome correction (0.5 g/hr emissions!) is more good news.

We initially reported a weighted average emission (the number the EPA reports) of 0.7 g/hr.  An error was made.  Our weighted average emission is actually 0.5 g/hr.

This is, of course, very good news!  Results of individual runs and weighted averages are in the chart below.

What about cordwood? These tests were done with “cribs” rather than cordwood.  More recently, EPA approved our request for approval to test with cordwood, and we will probably test again with “real-world” wood.  The approved method is new, and we would be the first company to use it.  There are still some bugs to be worked out, and the test lab has never used the method, so we think it will be a few months before it happens.

We believe our emission results using cordwood will be quite close to these results, and the overall efficiency will go up with cordwood.  Most of our preliminary testing was done with cordwood, and the stove was “tuned” with cordwood.

We are getting closer and closer to our goal of zero emissions.  As far as we know, we are in the lead in the race to get to zero.  Our objective is to consistently surpass our previous weighted average emissions with each new stove producing lower numbers.  Our new Absolute Steel Hybrid is no exception!
